While a photo booth is perfect for almost every event, not every event setting is perfect for a photo booth. But with some consideration and creativity, you can add a picture-perfect touch to your wedding or party. Stairs, photo booth weight and small hallways are among the hurdles that may have to be cleared when renting a photo booth. But fear not, photo booth rental companies have dealt with these issues for a long time, and there are ways to work around them! Vintage photo booths can weigh as much as 800 lbs. This could make it difficult for your photo booth rental vendor to navigate your venue with that nostalgic option. Also, tight or partially obstructed hallways could block full access to your event. One solution people often do not think of is that most venues have a separate entrance for bulky deliveries. The important thing is that you discuss the details of your venue with your provider up front. Here's how to tell if your venue is suitable. Seeing stairs and rising to the occasion How many stairs will your photo booth vendor have to traverse to get the booth in place? For the heavier booths, one or two stairs is usually the most a vendor can handle. If your event is taking place above the first floor, it's best if your venue has an elevator. For a small number of stairs at an event without elevator access, your provider may simply need to bring a helper to apply some muscle and get the photo booth into place. Or your photo booth rental vendor may advise you to rent a lighter model. Typically, the digital booths weigh less than the vintage booths. Putting the squeeze on tight hallways The hallways and doorways leading to your event must be wide enough to move the photo booth into position. Also, the hallways must be free of unmovable items that prevent access to your event. Rest assured access is rarely a problem. Sometimes a vendor needs to move something (like a large plant) out of the way temporarily. This is where the venue's back door for bulky deliveries comes in handy. For popular venues, chances are your experienced photo booth vendor has worked there in the past and found a way around any problems. The exact requirements depend on the size of the booth you rent. While it's true almost any venue can be made to work, some venues are better than others. Hotels and banquet halls usually have more experience dealing with bulky deliveries. They also have the facilities to handle such equipment — an elevator, loading dock, etc. Changing the shutter setting Photo booths are sometimes placed in the foyer of a venue, at the bottom of an elegant staircase. This works well if you cannot get the booth up the stairs to the reception hall. This location is often perfect because guests can snap their photos on their way in or out of the reception. At one wedding, the photo booth was placed outside the venue because it was not possible to carry the booth up several flights of stairs to reach the event. In that case, placement on the front lawn near the main entrance to the building was perfect. If you are concerned about your venue's suitability for a photo booth rental, talk to a professional in your area. Professional photo booth rental vendors have been in this business for a long time and have seen every type of obstacle you could imagine. If a photo booth is your heart's desire and there is a way to make it happen, your vendor will find it. |
